The wool of the camels living in the Gobi Desert of Mongolia is a noble and ancient fibre, appreciated for its softness, golden colour and thermostatic properties, although the fabric manufactured until now has been suitable only for rather thick and heavy coats and jackets.
The evolution has come about thanks to the technology of Loro Piana and the imagination of Caruso. It all began with the selection of “gold quality” camel fibers, having a width of 17 microns or less, spun and woven in worsted and knitted materials, featuring an exceptionally soft, supple and light hand. This is how the gobigold collection was born, consisting of fabrics for suits, jackets, coats and sportswear, either in 100% camel for year-round use or blended with Merino Super 170s wool for the fall-winter as well as with silk and linen for the spring-summer. Gobigold: a milestone in the history of menswear.
